Return to: Department Information The Allied Construction Trades Department offers a wide variety of Academic and Professional degrees and certificates to meet the needs of our students and the construction industry. Day and night classes are available. AAS Degrees are offered in Electrical Trades, Air Conditioning,Heating and Refrigeration, Power Generation and Alternative Energy, Constrution Technology, Welding and Computer Engineering Technology.
A Level 1 certificate is offered in Air Conditioning, Heating and Refigeration, Electrical Trades, Power Generation and Alternative Energy, Construction, Plumbing, and Welding. Both Level 1 and 2 certificates are offered in Computer Engineering Technology. Occupational Skills Award Certificates are offered in Air Conditioning Systems installation and Service, Power Generation and Alternative Energy.
Population growth and increased demands in the nation’s infrastructure have created a demand for skilled and certified technicians. Students can acquire a degree or certification in a short amount of time and at low cost. The department provides workforce training that meet or exceed certifications requirements from national organizations like the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). American Welding Society (AWS), Plumbing and Heating and Cooling Contractors (PHCC), The North American Board of Energy Practitioners (NABCEP).
Students should take the classes when offered or they may experience a one-year delay in graduation. In some unique cases, credit can be given for industry experience or, alternatively, students can challenge a course by taking and passing a departmental exam. Regular tuition and fees apply when students challenge a course. Some programs have requirements for background checks and/or drug testing. Background checks and drug tests are at the student’s expense.
