Additonal Program Information

About the CT Enhanced Skills Certificate:

The St. Philip’s College Radiography Technology Program has an educational opportunity for American Registry of  Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered Technologists to earn enhanced skills in Computed Tomography. The program is designed for those working as imaging technologists.

What is computed tomography?

As defined by the United States Food and Drug Administration, “Computed tomography (CT) imaging, also known as “CAT scanning” (Computerize Axial Tomography), provides a different form of imaging known as cross-sectional imaging. The origin of the word “tomography” is from the Greek word “tomos” meaning “slice” or “section” and “graphe” meaning “drawing.” A CT imaging system produces cross-sectional images or “slices” of anatomy, like the slices in a loaf of bread.  The cross-sectional images are used for a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.”

Who can apply for the program?

Applicants must be graduates of an accredited Radiologic Science or Radiology Technology program and hold current registration in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and a current license with the Texas Medical Board. Application to the program is required.

How do I apply?

  • Submit a completed application to program
