CVTT 2471 - Electrophysiology Instrumentation I
Corequisites: CVTT 2470, CVTT 2460

This course provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the specialized instrumentation used in electrophysiology laboratories. Emphasis is placed on the technical and procedural skills required to prepare the procedure room, including the setup of equipment and adherence to radiation safety protocols. Students will learn to review and validate patient and procedure information, perform accurate patient identification, and ensure safe patient transport. Through hands-on training, students will operate EP recording systems and cardiac stimulators, ensuring proper functionality and patient monitoring. The course also focuses on the operation and troubleshooting of advanced 3D mapping systems, with a strong emphasis on maintaining radiation safety by applying principles such as time, distance, shielding, and ALARA. Upon completion of this course, students will be proficient in managing the technical aspects of electrophysiology instrumentation essential for supporting diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac procedures.
