Associate of Arts, concentration in Music

The Associate of Arts degree with a concentration in Music is designed to apply to the Baccalaureate Degree Program in Music but may also be applied to the Baccalaureate of Arts Degree or other Baccalaureate-level Degrees in Music as deemed appropriate by the awarding institution. Only 30 of the 42 general education core requirements will be completed at St. Philip’s College. The remaining 12 semester hour credits will be completed at the receiving institution. Students who complete the 30 hours of the general education core and 35 hours of music courses as outlined below will be eligible to receive the AA Degree in Music.

Degree Requirements (Total Credit Hours 65)

Communication (10) Core – 2 courses (6 credit hours)


Mathematics (20) Core – 1 course (3 credit hours)


Select 1 course from the Mathematics (20) Core 

Natural Sciences (30) Core - 1 course (3 credit hours)


 Select 1 course from the Life and Physical Sciences (30) Core 

Language, Philosophy & Culture (40) Core - 1 course (3 credit hours)


Select 1 course from the Language, Philosophy & Culture (40) Core 

Visual and Performing Arts (50) Core – 1 course (3 credit hours)


 

American History (60) Core - 2 courses (6 credit hours)


Select 2 courses from the American History (60) Core 

Government/Political Science (70) Core - 2 courses (6 credit hours)


Additional Requirements (35 credit hours)
