Early Childhood and Family Studies

The mission of the Early Childhood and Family Studies Program will be to provide the community a student-centered instructional unit using research-based practices responsive to diversity, innovation, authentic learning and hands-on experiences. The results are successful individuals well prepared for a variety of job opportunities in early care and education profession. The program offerings include three plans leading to an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree with or without specialization and one (1) Certificate of Completion. Internship course requires attendance at a mandatory information session, individual meeting with early childhood and family studies clinical coordinator, and clearance from a current criminal history background check, drug screening and tuberculosis screening (PPD). Some early childhood education settings require additional screenings, such as fingerprinting. All required screenings or additional screenings required by particular sites are at the student’s expense.
